In case you missed the past million photos of our trip, you can find them here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4 (this is the last one, I promise!)
On the last day of our hike, we woke up early again to hit the trail.
We started at the Bright Angel Campground and followed the Bright Angel
Trail to the top. It was a 9.5 mile hike, and boy, did we feel it!
The first stretch was pretty relaxed, aside from nerves. It was pretty level ground along the river.
But then things got "fun" and the steep trails paired with the elevation change started to take their toll.

This area, know as The Devil's Corkscrew was T.O.U.G.H.
It was back and forth, back and forth on trails like this.
We stopped for a break at an area called Indian Gardens. You can see it in this photo in the stertch of green trees. At this point we were still 5 miles from the top.
We did stop to take a few looks at the breathtaking views behind us, and marvel at where we have been.
But for the most part, it was one foot in front of the other, onward to the top.
And after 30 miles in 3 days our group made it to the top. We had conquered the canyon, although she did not make it easy on us! We were exhausted, over-heated, hungry and boy oh boy did we smell!!
But we did it. I have to say I am really proud of our group and am so greatful for the adventure I was able to share with all of them. It was definately a trip to remember. Thank you for sharing this.
And to the Grand Canyon... Until next time.
