The above photo was where we stayed for three looong nights. It was dark (no windows), cramped and pretty run down. There was a only tiny microwave and tiny fridge wedged in a corner. And since it was only one little room, Jake and I had to sit in the dark after 8:00 just to get Ali to go to sleep. Definitely not a place we wanted to spend 2-4 weeks.
That's right 2-4 weeks. Servpro, the company drying our place out to prevent any further damage, won't be out of our place until Monday. Our contractor can then begin on Tuesday to start the repairs. He said it will take his team 2-3 weeks to get everything done. I'm not sure where that will leave us. Maybe we can move back in while they're still working on some areas? Not sure, but we're hopeful. In the meantime, we were able to move into a different hotel, an extended stay. And it is So. Much. Nicer.
We've been in our new place for 2 nights and I can't tell you how many times Jake and I just look at each other with a relieved look on our faces. We have a little kitchen, living area, large bathroom, and a bedroom. Ali's pack-n-play is still in the bedroom with us, but we don't have to tip-toe and whisper until we go to bed.
Alora has been enjoying her new space and has become quite the little "mommy" to her baby doll. It's so fun to see her pretending like that. She's really adjusting well to her new space.
Before we left our first hotel, I had to snap this photo of Jake and Alora. That hotel hosted lots of events so there were table set up in the central courtyard area. It made me think I could be seeing a similar view in about 25 years, but she would be dressed in white...
Our little girl will be 2 next month. She's growing up so fast.
